Naxos island

The island of Naxos is the biggest part of the Cyclades island complex in the center of the Aegean Sea.
An island of immense beauty, with a rich history lost in the millennia past and an even richer heritage, it attracts thousands of visitors throughout the year.

Even though Naxos is a popular destination, it has managed to maintain its authentic character and traditional style, which only adds to its appeal.

The most interesting things you will see and do when in Naxos are:

The capital of Naxos is the Chora, where the main port of Naxos is also situated.

The port is dominated by the image of the Medieval Old City of Naxos, a cultural monument that seems frozen in time, with a medieval allure that will enchant you. Walking in the narrow stone paved alleys of Old Naxos is an experience that you will remember forever.

In the center of the harbor, the tiny island of Palatia with the iconic Gate of Apollo is Naxos’ landmark, and a favourite spot for viewing the sunset. In the northern side of the Naxos port you will find the archaeological site of Grotta, the Mycenaean capital of the island, with a large part of it sunken underwater.
